Moving on

Now that 2 of the munchkins are in school, I have found myself with a few "quiet" hours in the morning with the boy.  I have big plans to stimulate his little brain with puzzles, books, songs...trips to the park and library story time.  These plans have not come to fruition yet.  We've had some illness in the house, which is pretty typical for the start of September when all the kids congregate together in the classroom and share germs.  I swear they get sick on purpose just to spoil our plans! I almost didn't make it to my Madonna concert last week because of this.  You know it's bad when Mom gets knocked down with a flu.  Moms are NOT SUPPOSED TO GET SICK.  Like, ever.  Thankfully we are on the mend now.   Today everyone went to school reasonably healthy.  I was glad.  And relieved.

So this morning I finally decided to tackle some "issues" in Jack's bedroom.  By issues I mean the explosion of little boy jeans, shirts, pj's and other clothing items that no longer fit and have somehow jumped out of his dresser drawers.  I did a purge and filled up two boxes with adorable, hardly worn items that no longer fit.  Now what?  I threw them all in piles, took a picture and posted an add on a Facebook page to sell them all. So far, no hits.  I don't really care if I make any money on this but I don't have any baby boys in mind to give this stuff to.  Where have all the baby boys gone???   They're growing up!

There is something cathartic about boxing up and giving away/selling baby items.  I can't believe how quickly this stage in my life has passed by.  This fall, when Jack turns 2, I will no longer have a  "baby" in the house.  I'm purging myself of the burden of "baby items".  The sling, the breast pump, the crib toys, the baby gates are all heading out the door.  Hasta la vista, baby!  This is a house of "big kids" now!

So I'm cleaning house and moving on.  It feels good and sad at the same time.  I know that for every item I send out the door that a big-kid replacement will soon follow.  But for now,  I will sit back and look at those packed up boxes and know that I accomplished a little something this morning.  Jack just enjoyed playing in the piles of clothes and throwing them down the stairs.   He's a good little helper sometimes!
