Do you want to build a snowman?

Because I do!

Getting a "gentle" skate it with Ava and her broken arm.
My last post was not very positive.  I think that sometimes life can feel a little "blah".  We've all had those times when life deals out interesting challenges and we find it hard to dig deep enough for that positivity to cheer ourselves on.   Lately, those "blahs" have been looming over me like a dark cloud.   It is starting to feel like an "eternal winter" around here (do you like my second reference to Disney's Frozen???   It's pretty popular around here lately!!!).  The days have been long and as a stay-at-home parent I often experience mild cabin-fever.

We have tried to find "fun" ways to get through this everlasting winter season.   We try to get the kids outside whenever we can.  My crew can start to behave like caged animals if they don't get run/walked and watered regularly!!

Olaf
Last weekend we had some sunshine, so we went out and built ourselves our
own "Olaf".  That was fun.  When finished, I sat in my Muskoka chair on my front step, closed my eyes with my face turned towards the sun and pretended for a few glorious moments that I was sitting at the base of Mont Tremblant enjoying an apres-ski (sans enfants!!).   A girl can dream, right?

I've tried to beat these winter blahs with trips to the gym.   Sometimes a good sweat and some Pitbull tunes can momentarily trick you into thinking that you might be in a sunnier, more exotic location than Goodlife!   Other times the gym won't cut it and it's chocolate or wine (bonus points if the two go together!!). We all have our little guilty pleasures. Mine is a Mars Bar.  It's an instant pick-me-up, even if it does un-do all my hard work at the gym.

Whatever it takes to put YOU in that better place- do it!  March Break (down) is looming and that means Spring is right around the corner.   The days are getting longer and even though it was pretty chilly out at the bus stop today, I am starting to get that "spring fever".   I am anxious to put away the ugly winter boots, hats and mitts and take out flip flops and tank tops.    I am looking forward to bike rides, sidewalk chalk,  driveway beers (that's a neighbourhood special around here!!) and sunshine.  With that change of seasons comes a change of perspective sometimes and that is something I am really looking forward to!
