That's what my 90+ year old grandmother has always said. This certainly applies to "family vacationing" where the preparation, planning and packing (and 8 hour drive) seemed overwhelming, but the end result was a wealth of happy family memories that will last a life time. A family vacation with 3 young children is not necessarily "restful", but it certainly infused our days with change and excitement that we don't normally experience around here.
For the third year in a row we rented a cottage in York Beach, Maine. We travel with friends and that makes it extra special. We look forward to this trip all year and start daydreaming about next year's booking before we've even vacuumed the sand out of the car. It is a beautiful place. The beach is clean, peaceful and safe for young children. The lobster is fresh. The air is salty. The outlet shopping is an added bonus.
We love it!
I could go on and on, but I think the pictures tell the story better than words. Can't wait to get back to my "happy place"!!
