This week we are doing our "crash course" swimming lessons. Both girls are in lessons daily at an indoor pool. Sydney is doing "Salamander'"and Ava is in Swim Kids 1. Jack is in the stroller. He would like to get in the pool too, but he is too young for lessons. It's a long morning!!!
I can't take pictures or video of the girls in the pool due to privacy issues and city "rules". I get it and I am disappointed about it. I would love nothing more than to document their progress this way. You'll have to visualize using my description only.
Ava and Sydney are all smiles during their half hour lesson. In fact, Sydney smiles so much that she sometimes drinks water because she forgets to close her mouth! They are jumping in, floating, bobbing, gliding and summer-saulting. They have no fear and are completely at ease in the water. I think I am just as proud to watch them learn to swim as I was when they learned how to walk!!

James and I have spawned little fish (do you like that pun?). Our water babies come by their predisposition to swim honestly. We were both lifeguards. We are both scuba divers. Grandpa Bryan is part fish too (though he wears a wetsuit to brave the cold chill of the St.Lawrence these days). We love the water and I am so pleased to see that our kids love it too. It can be the pool, the river or the ocean. It doesn't matter. Jack even tries to swim in the bath tub! It's in their DNA and I am proud. Who knows? Maybe in 10-12 years one of our kids will choose to walk in our footsteps and become a lifeguard too? That would help us pay their way through university one splash at a time!!
